Organizing a playgroup:
A playgroup is usually three children per one adult.  It can be a group of children each with their parent, or one parent watching three children.  The idea of the group is to let babies interact with each other, thereby learning beginning social skills.  if you and your child could benefit from interacting with other babies and mothers here are some ideas on how to get a playgroup started.

Ask your friends if they want to seat a weekly date to get babies together.

Make sure one parent isn't always doing the baby-sitting.  is so she should be paid.

Involve children close in age from your local masjid

Once you have a few people interested, get together and plan one month worth of play dates, then give it a try.

Talk together for ten minutes after each playgroup about how the interaction went, about what the children liked and disliked, and to brainstorm activities for the next gathering.

Start them young!
Tips for instilling Islam in the very young
Get your toddler excited about prayer.  Give your child a love for salaat while young and make it a habit that they keep for the rest of their lives.  (InshaAllah)  Let the Athan play in your house.  There are several websites where the call to prayer will play from your computer for each salaat. (such as IslamicFinder.com) Or invest in an athan alarm clock.  When the Athan is called, get animated, get excited.  Tell your child excitedly, it's time for prayer.  Prayer, Salaat!!!.  Let them make wudu.  Children at this age love to play in the water and wash their hands. So let them have fun.  Take  your time and do it together.  For girls visit a craft or sewing store and make a special prayer hijab and let her help decorate it with beads, or ribbons.  Then she will be excited to put on her special scarf for prayer.  Don't expect a full salaat at first.  Let them come and go as they please.  When your salaat is over pull your little one onto your lap and dhikr together and make dua. Dhikr and dua should be short to help them focus.
